How the herbs are grown

All the herbs are naturally grown in 9x9 cm pots (8cm depth). They begin life as either seeds or cuttings in small plugs and are then potted on into the 9cm pots by hand. They are then left to root into the compost and put on some top growth before they are sent out to you. This means they will be a good size and ready to carry on their life in their new surroundings.

How are the herbs are packaged

We really want your plants to arrive in the best condition possible. We use recyclable blister packs that hold three herbs tightly in place to stop movement. To help stop soil spillage each pot is wrapped in thin black film wrap which will cover the soil surface but not the plant, this needs to be removed when you unpack your plants. The blister packs are then popped into cardboard boxes for added protection and wrapped with fragile tape to help prevent them being thrown about in transit.

Terracotta pots are delivered in reinforced cardboard boxes with padding.

How your herbs are delivered

It is important that your herbs spend as little time as possible in their packaging as they have no access to natural light. Although they manage pretty well for three or four days we like to send them on an overnight delivery either a Tuesday or Wednesday; this ensures that they are never left in transit over a weekend (if the overnight inadvertently takes an extra day). This means that herbs ordered on a Wednesday evening for example will arrive just over a week later, whereas herbs ordered on a Monday will arrive within three or four days. Therefore please allow up to two weeks for delivery. An email will be sent to you when your herbs are despatched.

Please leave an alternative address or place to leave your herbs in the comments box on the order page, that way if you are not home, they will not be send back to the depot and spend another night in their box.
