FIRE WATER
Fire water is an easy preparation to make at home and is ideal for the medicine chest. It is a vinegar infusion that is used to increase circulation and digestion with its pungent warming antimicrobial herbs. One teaspoon a day with a little warm water and honey can be used to give the immune system a boost or one teaspoon four times a day to help with cold and flu symptoms. It can be also be used in salad dressings or in cooking.
Recipe;
3 bay leaves
Sprig rosemary
Sprig sage
Sprig thyme
3cm chopped fresh turmeric
3cm chopped fresh ginger
3cm chopped fresh horseradish
1 chopped chilli
1 chopped onion
2 slices lemon
2 cloves garlic
Cider vinegar to cover
Place all the ingredients in a glass bottle, cover with the cider vinegar and leave for a month to infuse. Strain into clean bottles ready for use.
