Description

  • Attractive garden evergreen
  • Hedging plant
  • Used for scented sachet and pot pourii
  • Hung in drawers and wardrobes as moth deterrent

There has been little use for santolina as a herb, although its use in expelling worms has been recorded. It seems its decorative properties are enough!

Plant Care

  • Height: 60-100cm
  • Type: Hardy
  • Aspect: Sun
  • Soil: Any/alkaline
  • Flower colour: Yellow
  • Flowering period: July - August

Cotton lavender is fairly drought tolerant once established and adores the sun. It can be grown into a hedge, with plants space 30-40cm apart. It also makes an attractive shrub in pots or the garden. After flowering each year, it can be  cut back by about fifty percent to keep it bushy, or in spring each year cut right down to the new growth shooting at the bottom.
