Description

  • Pretty yellow snapdragon flowers
  • Wildflower
  • Easy to grow
  • Visited by long tongued bees

The fact it is no longer used medicinally shouldn’t mean this little herb can be ignored. The splash of yellow snapdragon flowers is very attractive and they provide feed for a range of bees and insects. They spread to form a good clump and are a happy sight each summer.

Plant care

  • Height: 30-60cm
  • Type: Hardy
  • Aspect: Sun
  • Soil: Any/alkaline
  • Flower colour: Yellow
  • Flowering period: July - October

An easy herb to grow, it prefers a site where it gets plenty of sun and is reasonably well drained. It spreads via its roots and though not that invasive, if you don't have space for some spread it grows very happily in a pot. In winter it dies down completely and remerges the following spring.
